Risha Mullins, Nicole Jenkins, Casi Owens and Stephanie Smith school: Owensboro Middle School, Glasgow Middle School, Montgomery County High School, Kentucky

After Risha Mullins was awarded a mini-grant for a “Jewish Culture Project” at her school in 2008, and another, with Stephanie Smith, for a “Never Again” student workshop series in 2009 which culminated with a visit with Holocaust survivor Irving Roth, the women collaborated in 2010 with their Kentucky Writing Project colleagues and fellow summer seminar graduates Casi Owens (09) and Stephanie Smith (09) to develop and lead the “KWP Advanced Institute for Holocaust Education.” The aim of this pilot seminar: to help local teachers integrate Holocaust and social justice teaching into their classrooms.
