Mary Jo,
Beautifully said. Now, more than ever, I am starting to realize how much learning I have to do about myself and where I come from. Our kids are looking to us for answers. In this respect, I do feel it’s ok to question our parents…as long as there is a reason. Sometimes we need to ask the difficult questions for the sake of future…[Read more]

As I continued to read, I fell in love with the friendship between Sondra and Margaret. This friendship, built on mutual respect reminds me of my friendship between Autumn and me. It’s encouraging to see the progression of a friendship. I enjoyed reading the letters, and then the emails. Those short bursts of thought reminded me of the text…[Read more]

Hello Holly,
It sounds like we have a few things in common! I too have a three year old daughter; her name is Audrey (she will be four in August). She’s a talkative handful who loves to read, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I also teach 10th graders and have taught remedial reading in the past.
As you love “Star Wars”, I love ART! I…[Read more]

It’s nice to meet you, Jacqueline! I also teach a children’s summer writing camp! Our camp is called YAWP (Young Adult Writing Project)! I am not going to lie — I REALLY like your camp’s theme. The YAWP instructors are meeting next Saturday to plan our summer writing project (theme, lessons, activities, etc.). Mind if I share your theme idea as…[Read more]
